Below are some important things to know and keep in mind regarding Communities with Paid Subscriptions.
Existing Communities with Paid Subscriptions
All existing communities with paid subscription options are created by other members who have PK Pro Memberships.
Community Privacy
- All paid communities are open to the public.
- PechaKucha.com members who aren't subscribed to your community can still see the content (though they cannot access it) on the About tab of your community page.
Chat Cheer
Along with community subscription sales, Chat Cheer is another way you can generate revenue through gratuities on the content you've created (presentations & events).
Monthly Subscription Settings
- There are only 5 available monthly subscription fees available to charge subscribers: $2, $5, $10, $20, and $50. As these are set amounts, you cannot go in-between or higher/lower.
- You cannot change the price nor change the status of the community (in other words, you can’t make a subscriber community into a public community or vice versa). If you want to change the price, you have to start a new community and ask the members to migrate over to the new one.
Fees
PechaKucha charges a fee of $.50 + 10% per transaction on community subscriptions.
Payment Collection & Payout
- When creating your community, you must link your bank account to Stripe to create subscriber communities and collect payments. This can be done on your Account Settings page.
- Subscription sales collection, processing, and payouts are run through Stripe.
- Member subscription sales arrive in your account after a 31-day hold.
Income Tax
You are responsible for paying income tax on revenue.
Refunds
Refunds are for special circumstances only.
Deleting your Community
If you delete your community, subscribers will be refunded for the last billing period and you will be responsible for covering any associated fees.
If you have further questions or concerns regarding the topics above, please feel free to get in touch.
